You know that feeling when you’re playing Bust-A-Move and you disconnect a ton of bubbles, causing them to all fall towards the bottom of the stage earning yourself a grip of points? If not, check out 1:02 in this video to see what I’m talking about. If so, good! You are fully equipped to understand the appeal of The Greedy Sponge.

The Greedy Sponge is a new iOS game by Ivica Aracic, who you might know better from his work at tons of bits, the game developer responsible Chick Chick Boom and Mission In Snowdriftland. The premise of this game essentially that ultrasatisfying bit from Bust-A-Move, repeated ad infinitum: you slide rows of ‘thingies’ left and right until you find the most efficient way to disconnect the largest group possible, whereafter they all fall into the titular sponge’s gaping maw. The soundtrack is done by Martin Straka, probably best known for his music in iOS game Spirits. So yeah, there’s a lot of talent going into this one.

The Greedy Sponge has been submitted to Apple for review, so it’ll be available for download soon. In the meantime, you can wait patiently on the game’s Facebook fan page by way of visiting the-greedy-sponge.com.
