The word “epic” gets thrown around with a frequency these days that definitely cheapens the word, but if you saw the trailer for Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet that came out about halfway through last year, you know there’s really no other way to describe it. In case you didn’t:
Alright, now that you’ve had time to recover, here’s the news part: the artist behind the game Michel Gagné announced on Monday that the game is coming to Xbox Live Arcade! Not a lot is known about the game, other than that it’s been in development at Fuelcell Games for roughly three years and that maybe a UFO has something to do with it. Or something.
As far as releases on non-Xbox systems go: never underestimate the power of people complaining on the internet. Four of the first five comments on the official announcement were complaints from people wanting a PC version, which eked a response from Gagné himself: “No one here is saying that there won’t be a PC version ;)“. So take that lack of a lack of a confirmation as you will.

This is one of those games where the trailer looks so good and tells us absolutely nothing about the game itself. It’s got a clear emphasis on visual presentation and that’s good, not enough games now-a-days do that. But will the game itself be any good? The thing that worries me is this trailer you’re seeing came out a long time ago. has any progress been made on the game since then? Are we even looking at the game footage or was this just some animation thrown together to look like a game and they started work on it later meaning the final game will be nothing like what we’re seeing?
Quite frankly I’m afraid that when this game comes out folks are going to see it, play it, and then put it away. It’s a flash in the pan that flashed over a year ago. When it lands on our plate it’ll be everything we expect and nothing that surprises us.
That said I’m still looking forward to it.
“Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet”? Sounds like something that would be adored by those kids obsessed with Tim Burton.
But yeah, it looks interesting. Seems like a babypuncher, though.
I am surprised that you guys just noticed this. I had almost forgot about this as well.
[...] remember Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet? There was that amazing first trailer in mid-2009, then pretty much nothing until PAX East earlier this month. But man, when those PAX [...]
