I voted for Rescue the Beagles. I was going to vote for Iji, but I just wanted to be different.
I went with Mopsical here, but I actually liked Rescue the Beagles. Iji was fun, but somehow it really didn’t ‘get me’ as much as Rescue the Beagles did. I’m not saying I clogged up here and cried tears of joy/sadness for the Beagles, but I just liked the overall feeling in terms of game play and art.
Still, I’ll be happy with whatever game gets to be Free Indie of the Year because all of them should get a shared 1st place. And a small prize.
Preferably without small parts.
No, don’t get me wrong, Lourens, I did like Rescue the Beagles too. Maybe even more than Iji (sort of). See, I just wanted to be different but you sir, have diminished that fact and made my heart burst. I write to you from hospital.
Also, way to fight the power! There are no winners or losers in this world, everything is based on luck. Sometimes people win games, but thats not to say that person is the winner. The person losing could easily win the next time if they tried hard enough.

Perhaps Rescue the Beagles will be the surprise winner! I also gave it my vote. It’s such a perfectly designed arcade game, full of great design decisions. Like the player’s speedy running and jumping vs their slow movement when using an item or the end of level bonuses that give multiple routs to getting a higher score. So good!
