Mod and total-conversion repository ModDB have posted the winners of their 2009 Mod of the Year (or MOTY) Awards. After 133,000 votes, here are the results!
I gotta admit, that Modern Warfare: Galactic Warfare mod looks pretty damn cool. Suddenly all the Modern Warfare 2 dedicated server outcry seems slightly less crazy, just because it would’ve been fun to see what kinds of mods fans could have put out for that game.
Interesting aside: due to the often perpetual nature of mod development, mods are only eligible for the Top 10 if they placed higher in the awards than they have in years past. That’s why there are so many fresh faces on this year’s list. Congratulations to the winners!

Research & Development was my favourite. A first person puzzle game with a lot of awesome and fresh ideas and much more fun than the original Half Life 2. I bought episode 2 only to be able to play this mod and it was worth it!
I have to agree with Ortwin, R&D was incredible. it had all sorts of great puzzles, and felt very polished. i only wish it were longer.
And the award for worst narration goes to… this video.
