Sega put the happiness of millions on the line last night when they announced “Project Needlemouse”, an upcoming (presumably downloadable) HD Sonic game coming to consoles in 2010. Details are slim, other than this teaser:
In a brief interview with GameSpot, Sega’s Ken Ballough let a couple details slip, including that the game is coming largely due to old-school fans’ desire to see “a game that plays purely similar to the early [Sonic] games of the Genesis”.
If I know Anthony at all, his heart is far too hardened by past disappointments to feel even a tinge of hope or excitement about this, but god, imagine if this game is good. Like Bionic Commando: Rearmed or Pac-Man CE good. The way I see it, the biggest mascot tragedy of all time is maybe getting a shot at redemption. WOO.

F&%K THESE GUYS THEY RUIN EVERYTHING WHERE’S YUJI NAKA OMFG….
*hyperventilates into a paper bag*
This WILL suck the worst.
Where’s Yuji Naka? Probably raking in the bucks from LET’S TAP. He left Sega and formed his own studio three years ago, apparently so he could make LET’S FUCKING TAP.
SO YEAH I DON’T THINK HE WILL BE MISSED.
I am actually excited to see what this game will perform. Looks like it COULD be decent. Who knows? It HAS been about 8 years since a good Sonic game has come out (Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast). I cant wait to see what this games has in store for us.
There’s no way of knowing yet how it’ll perform. All we can do is hope. Unfortunately for some of us whose name rhymes with Manthony Tharboni, all hope died years ago.
