So I don’t know if you heard, but Terry Cavanagh’s platforming magnum opus VVVVVV finally released today. I also don’t know if you heard that it is fucking awesome and you should buy it this instant. In case you did, it’s now available for your consumption at thelettervsixtim.es for a meager $15, a pittance when you consider to the massive amounts of joy and frustration it will bring you.

With album art like this, it'd be a crime not to buy it.
However, getting shamefully less coverage is the release of PPPPPP, Magnus Pålsson (aka SoulEye)’s incredible chiptune soundtrack for the game. Upbeat, exciting, and nostalgic, the soundtrack is one of the best parts of a seriously fantastic package. Unbelievably, you can get all nine of VVVVVV‘s full-length songs, all six of its jingles, a .txt file on the process of making PPPPPP, and a couple of other kickass extras for only $4.00 on Pålsson’s website. Worth every penny.
PPPPPP can (and should) be purchased right here: http://souleye.madtracker.net/buycd.htm
Regarding those extras, I’ll leave it at this: one of them contains the word ‘twat’. Yeah.
Readers! Have you played VVVVVV yet, or at the very least, played its two-level Flash demo? What do you think? Let us know below in the comments!

Bought it, played it (didn’t finish it, mind you), loved it. I am gonna take a good amount of time playing this game, and I will cry bitter tears once I’m through with it. =D
‘Your Bitter Tears… Delicious.’
Played the demo. My god, I need this game. You would believe how long I spent on the “Difficult Chord” room.
Difficult Chord is one of maybe two or three stages in the game I found ABSURDLY frustrating. I actually just went back and played through the Laboratory again to make sure I was thinking of the right level, and yeah, that’s the one. I somehow made it through in about 4 tries this time, but I think with this level, getting through it is pretty much just dumb luck.
That, and Trench Warfare were my biggest annoyances. But interestingly enough, when I played them a second time, it really wasn’t too difficult.
So I decided to go get the Kong badge for the VVVVVV demo tonight and GUESS WHO TOTALLY PASSED ‘A DIFFICULT CHORD’ ON HIS FIRST TRY OMFG
I just purchased PPPPPP and it is amazing!! I want VVVVVV but $15 is expensive… hopefully I can get a few friends to give me like $5 or something on PayPal. We’ll see =/
It’s funny, you’re not the only person I know of who has bought the soundtrack but not the actual game. No matter how a downloadable game is, we’re still at a point where a $15 price point is a tough pill to swallow.
A month from now, I hope both Terry and Magnus release some sales figures, because it’d be fascinating to see how both the soundtrack and the game proper did.
Haha, yeah. I played the demo and beat it, but the game just doesn’t seem like $15 material… maybe $10 or $7 at lowest. I really want it though :D
I……..gave in……. and bought it………………….. FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
[...] the video even includes a small tribute to PPPPPP, the still-wonderful-12-months-later soundtrack composed for the game by Magnus Pålsson. [...]
