Let’s get into an argument, internet. I’ll start it: the Darius series is the best series of shmups ever, and the Sega Saturn/arcade release Darius Gaiden was the best of the series. The Zuntata soundtrack, the first appearance of the mid-boss capture ball, and of course: the boss warnings.
The boss warnings were so ridiculous they prompted my friends and I to start using it in everyday cadence. At lunch: “Warning: A Huge Sandwich is Approaching.” At parties: “Warning: A Huge Douchebag is Approaching.” At fat people’s funerals: “Warning: A Huge Casket is Approaching.” It’s pretty much the best phrase ever.
And here it is on a t-shirt that you can buy at NCSX. Expect to see this in an episode very soon. ON MY BODY.
Disclaimer: Anyone that mentions Darius Twin as the “best of the series” in a comment gets slapped.

Everyone is quite aware that Parodius blows all Darius games out of the sky, space, or insides of a giant monster. the shirt however, is fancy.
Listen, dude. I’ve got much love for Parodius — except for Sexy Parodius, which bordered a bit too much on hentai for my tastes — but at the end of the day, it’s just a funny Gradius.
And it’s been mathematically proven: Darius > Gradius every day of the week.
WE ARE NOW INTERNET ARGUING, AS I REQUESTED.
Actually, my favourite of the Darius series is definitely Darius Twin. BEST SHMUP EVER.
*runs away to avoid getting slapped*
You have such a Falcon Punch coming. You have no idea.
No, scratch that, best game ever. No, best thing ever. Darius Twin is definitely better than sliced bread. Or toast. Or life. You know you agree with me, deep down…
We’ve all noticed you love shmups. Personally, I don’t love shmups. It’s not a genre I enjoy.
But I do enjoy lacing my every day conversation with video game lines. Whenever the kid is crying I’ll shout out “Pink baby needs food badly.” Waking up the kids calls for a “Wise fwom yo gwave!” And whenever I get behind the wheel of a car it’s “Duh-duh-duh-duh-DAY-TONAAAAAAA!”
In my first car (a 1991 Honda Civic), I had a cassette permanently in the tape player (yeah, that’s right, TAPE PLAYER) with Daytona USA and Sonic R music on it. I used to get so many tickets.
“DAYYYYYYYYYTOOONNNNAAAAAA, Let’s go away!”
Have you heard the music on Sonic CD? “Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Booooom.”
Here’s a link for you.
