As a resident of The Internet™, you’ve probably seen your share of Japanese TV commercials. Usually 15 seconds long and almost always frantic, they might be why YouTube exists. No, I’m not gonna look that up, I’m just sayin’. Maybe.
Well, here’s something to rival that level of pacing and engagement: there is a new Japanese title up on Xbox Live Indie Games called REPLACE POSITION MAGIC いれかえまほちゃん, and it looks amazing. Basically, the premise is that you swap positions with enemies in the level using a star projectile. The goal, according to the creator, is to “get the ideas as many and fast as possible to clear the stage within little amount of time limit.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Really, though, you kind of need to watch the trailer to get it, but once you see it in action, it’s pretty clear what’s happening in the game. Peep it below:
Best of all, the game is only 80 Microsoft Points (or $1.00 [or ¥100]), so it’s pretty much the easiest impulse buy, like, ever.

Funny that the one thing you talk about the most, the short form of the game, could be applied to any number of games. What about that swap mechanic? How’d you like that?
So if any game were made into 10 second mini-challenges would you gush over it as much? …Maybe that’s the direction I need to go in my next game.
Looks cool I’ll give the demo a spin if there is one.
