This week: old FPS engines made new again with Smokin’ Guns, Urban Brawl, and Gravity Bone.

Gravity Bone: Windows, FPS, Brendon Chung – http://tinyurl.com/gravitybone

[..YouTube..] I want to see you tough it out there on the roof Anthony.

[..YouTube..] Another great week!
[..YouTube..] Nice episode, I like the idea of themes for FIRF (Free Indie Rapid-Fire). Next week I challenge you to showcase some truly scary indie games.
My vote is for Gravity Bone: The game is puzzling, action-packed and incredibly stylistic with an awesome soundtrack and impressive lighting effects. Overall the length and lack of explanation were GB’s only downfall.
[..YouTube..] Gravity bone also works under Wine. only problem I had was an autio glitch that shut the sound off but by going into the menu and just pressing the volume slider fixed it.
this was under Ubuntu 8.10
[..YouTube..] Excellent vid. I vote for Gravity Bone. Excellent game, just wished it could’ve been longer.
Honestly, I’m just disappointed you weren’t wearing your salmon hoodie while drinking your salmon colored drink.
I vote for Gravity Bone, absolutely beautiful, yes it is short yet the experience remains in you memory long after you played, and the ending is great!
So when are you going to be starting that ‘Cocktails with Carboni’ Internet TV show?
[..YouTube..] Howdy. I’m sheriff of this You Tube town and I’m saying that law is law, and I’m a law so you better vote for my Smokin’ Guns or I will put you into the jail.
So what do you do?
[..YouTube..] anthoni i have bad news.
two days ago, my feeder of my pc has burned out, so i had to have an new one.
now (the bad thing) MY WHOLE HARD DISK IS GONE!
all my downloads and stuff gone, snif snif
well anyway, gonna download some again and well good luck further
ps. please use anthoni carboni forever and not an artistname!
Hi
I vote for Gravity Bone it is a nice loocking game and and nice game play but the game wass to short..
(is it a full vertion ? ) if yes lett me know :D
MertenNor
ps. sorry fore my bad english…
[..YouTube..] Gravity Bone blew me away, but was too too short. Smokin’ Guns was fun, but my choice for this week is Urban Brawl.
Urban Brawl has some nice looking comic book style art and funny dialogue. The game also has nice replayability due to the fact that your choices reflect what happens.
All three games were really fun to play. Great picks for this week.
is anyone else here jonesing for some good fighting games? ANYONE?
um.. gravity bone gets my vote. funnest game i’ve played in a while
Great games! Even better that they are using open source engines so they might run on my Pandora handheld some day! B)
Howdy. I’m sheriff of this You Tube town and I’m saying that law is law, and I’m a law so you better vote for my Smokin’ Guns or I will put you into the jail.
So what do you do?
It’s copy paste from my YouTube account.
I’d have to go with Gravity Bone on this one, because it so isn’t Quake 2 for a Quake 2 mod, that I’m surprised they aren’t selling it. BEST DEAL EVAR.
BTW, are you trying to start a new trend with a new refereshment being consumed every week, because if so, next week, you need to feature chocolate cake.
[..YouTube..] lol anthony is funny
Urban Brawl all the way! Reminding us why mohawked punks and big tough guys are no match for a badass who east whole turkeys at a time!
Bias-O-Meter=6 – All of the games are First Person Shooters and I haven’t left the change in FPS’s since the Doom era. And I am not that into them in general… I cant comment much on the games because of this proverbial pillar of salt but here goes…
Urban Brawl reminds me of Viewtiful Joe because of its visuals alone. Only they took that style and turned it into a first person shooter/brawler game. The environments and chars and usual game-play are alright for what it is. The sheer contrast in the colorized environment though may be a bit painful to you, especially if you come from the more modern side which has ‘realistically’ softer tones.
Smokin Guns looks great for its atmosphere, appearance and enviroments. The buy system sounds like similar to Counterstrike and there is also the looting from other players. Where as Urban gun would appeal to the shooter oldies, well discounting visual handicapping…, this game would more appeal to the modern crowd who enjoy a more authentic shootout or two.
Gravity Bone was my pick particularly because it wasn’t just a FPS. Portal was the only modern FPS like game I enjoyed from the new stuff so seeing an unusual game like this, I felt intrigued to trying it out. Doing all manner of oddball tasks, it felt all the more amusing to play it through. Sure its short but good experiences need not be several hour sagas, which incidentally is also how Portal rolled. A good ‘Outside of the box’ experience. Incidentally I’ve got this drink for you. No that isn’t a cicada planted in it.
I want to vote for gravity bone because it was so short, but so sweet, and can’t help but think “Maybe if I support them they’ll make more.”
Or maybe I should just praise the guys who gave us a finished product.
This week my vote goes for Smokin’ Guns. Gravity bone made me feel like a parched man who had just been teased with a drip of perrier. Smoking Guns was more like a healthy serving of meat and potatoes. Polished, complete, satisfying.
Ryan K: ‘Cocktails with Carboni’, I like it. Get him a big high back chair, a Hugh Heffner dressing gown, and blue screen a crackling fireplace behind him.
Anthony: You need to update the instructions on your video because you can’t submit a link from the home page. You need to mention going to the actual video’s page.
Great episode! thanks guys!
@Joe – The submission form is on the front page, too. What browser/platform are you on? Do you have any content-blocking software installed?
Broken bottles fighting wins my heart. My vote is for urban brawl.
GET BACK ON THE ROOF CARBONI!!
Great episode !
You spoke normally and that’s great sometimes !
@admin – Who’s “admin”?
I don’t know of any blocking software. And I think I mistyped. I meant the comment form isn’t on the front page. The submit a link and voting are there, but commenting on the video you need to follow the “submit a comment” link. Then again I was on my home laptop then and I’m on my desktop now, so I’ll check it out later.
@Joe – That would be Anthony ;)
Despite its shortness, Gravity Bone is a stylistic experience raised to the third power!
Kay come on Gravity Bone wasn’t THAT good. But still good enough to get a vote, for sure.
I get pretty bad motion sickness from first person games, so Gravity Bone gets my vote for being short. Being able to complete it without throwing up is a quality I apreciate in a game.
It’s also totally commited to being delightfully daft and cheeky – I love that you can actually see the bug in the glass as you carry it around.
i voted for gravity bone because i misspelled it while searching on google and got instructions for making a gravity bong
I voted for Urban Brawl because Gravity Bone was just too short, it’s a great idea but just too damn short. I agree with Joe here for it just left me feeling like a crack addict who got a little taste and is now left alone and naked.
Naked.
If the game was a bit longer and satisfied my addiction I would have voted for it, but right now I won’t vote for I believe the votes it is getting are due to populism.
Hey dudes, what do you mean that there’s no health meter in Smokin’ Guns? Did you even play it? It’s visible right there in the video.
Why I chose Gravity Bone {seesmic_video:{“url_thumbnail”:{“value”:”http://t.seesmic.com/thumbnail/UHyUentqGz_th1.jpg”}”title”:{“value”:”Why I chose Gravity Bone ”}”videoUri”:{“value”:”http://www.seesmic.com/video/HxvKR6n64W”}}}
@AL3X – Thanks for your comment, it’s a shame you didn’t get it in sooner or I would have put it in the show. Thanks for watching though, and we’re glad you liked Gravity Bone.
[..YouTube..] Smokin’ Guns takes forever to download..
[..YouTube..] can someone tell me where i can download for free of that assasin game
ty
On the roof again!
SMOKIN GUNS gets it for me, its a solid, professional game that just FEELS right, aswell as looks good, sounds GREAT and has single player bots {thats right you graphic pimping online ‘only’ FPS makers}
