Good lord man take a break if you have the flu! Totally appreciate the effort you put in there though!
Sorry to hear you are under the weather Anthony. Hope you get well soon, but also don’t give whatever you have to John! I can’t cope with another roofless episode! My favourite cockpit game ever has to be Privateer 2: The Darkening. Wing Commander 3 may well have had Mark Hamill, but P2:TD had John Hurt as the scrupulous bartender of an equally seedy planet! Ok, so Clive Owen was wooden throughout, but that’s to be expected. John Hurt gracing the world of video gaming is not! Add to that the fact that I played this game on a Pentium 2 350MHz machine, a computer that was far far above the recommended specs (yeah it’s old), which caused all the space battles to run at HYPER DEMONIC SPEED. The result was like Elite on steroids and as a 12 year old I loved every minute of it! Anyway, good luck with the AIDS walk. What you’re doing more than deserves my 20 cents!
Okay, first of all, With Anthony sick Jon should have had his week this week. Seriously, Jon, if you don’t want to be in front of the camera put something else in front of the camera and do a voiceover. Show us what a highly produced Bytejacker looks like.
Secondly, did you lose your gamefly sponsorship?
Thirdly, I discovered on ecobear:whatever that you can throw stuff out of your car, so that should help with the debris and badgers. Just fling ‘em at the edge and watch ‘em disappear.
And finally…
Best Cockpit: XWing {seesmic_video:{“url_thumbnail”:{“value”:”http://t.seesmic.com/thumbnail/ISppXt9MQp_th1.jpg”}”title”:{“value”:”Best Cockpit: XWing ”}”videoUri”:{“value”:”http://www.seesmic.com/video/CgmEcwz5jZ”}}}
It seems aids walk won’t accept donations of under $25.
@ Joe – Anthony is certainly the one made for the camera. My horrible on screen persona should have shone brightly enough last week! :) . . . . . although it was fun.
. . . . . . who knows.
That $25 minimum thing is weird, and is apparently only for online donations– something to do with the cost of processing vs. how much actually gets into the hands of the charity. For donations under $25, you can:
Send a check made out to “AWNY” with my name written on the Memo line
to
AIDS Walk New York
Old Chelsea Station
PO Box 10
New York, NY 10113-0010
Thanks!

Re: Gamefly – no one wanted it, so we axed that.
@Rob – Thanks for the donation! YOU RULE!
As for a cockpit game definitely Ultrabots/Xenobots 3 types of mecha to chose power grid and batteries SO COOL.
Would it be possible to to allow donating via paypal i’m from europe and it would be so much easier.
@Yarood – I could look into it. I mean, I’ve got a Paypal account. Would people be weirded out giving to me to give to the charity, though?
I know i wouldn’t mind.
XWing is a good game nothing more to it.
@sebastion – “XWing is a good game nothing more to it.” Not sure what that means. S-Plane.
Get well soon :(
Best cockpit game I’ve ever played? Definitely Freelancer, it’s got the best control skim I’ve ever tried on a spaceship game and it’s just really cool.
Get well soon Anthony, thanks for putting the show up.
Does Magic Carpet count as a cockpit game? Otherwise Descent would be my fav.
And what’s with using your illness to ask for money? Hit us when we are taking pity on the poor podcaster…. :)
Seriously man, donation is on it’s way. Thanks for the great shows, and hope you get better.
@Joe Larson – “XWing is a good game nothing more to it.” Not sure what that means. S-Plane. explain what as I said nothing more to it. But X-plane is a really good game to.
My vote is X-plane
The best cockpit that I remeber in a game was Mechwarrior 2, when the franchise was distributed by Activision. I really like the Image Enhancement mode.
If Magic Carpet counted that would get my vote! That game was awesome and crazy hard!
@ Anthony: You remind me of this guy from two weeks ago, Beardy McNevershowers. He was a good guest host. ;)

Best cockpit game i ever played was X2 – the treat!
Hey Carboni, sorry you’re under the weather this week. On the plus side it seems to be doing wonders for your manly stubble.
I’ll be making a donation in a couple of days when I get paid.
I really enjoyed all of the MechWarrior games. If I have to choose just one, I think it would be MechWarrior 2. I probably killed a summer’s worth of afternoons with that one.
Since the gamefly thing fizzled, why not try doing some kind of cross-promotion thing with gog.com? That’s a service I have actually used and will probably use again at some point.
Some classic cockpit games I really enjoyed were _Tunnels of Armageddon_ and _Stunt Car Racer_, both on the Amiga.
Anthony, sorry you’re not feeling well. I hope you get feeling better soon. I was expecting some vomit related humor or something in the episode when you mentioned at the beginning that you were feeling well, but there wasn’t any so that must mean you REALLY aren’t feeling well.
I must respectfully disagree with all those who stated that X-Wing was the best cockpit game ever. Maybe I’m just an Imperial pawn, but I thought Tie Fighter was a far superior game to X-Wing. Don’t get me wrong, X-Wing was great, but Tie Fighter took X-Wing’s great formula and added an improved engine, what I thought was a better, more engaging storyline, and the best part of all, you didn’t have to fly a Y-Wing. Oh mean, come on. Was there anyone who said, “Yay! Another Y-Wing mission! I’m tired of flying this fast, maneuverable A-Wing and this well balanced X-Wing. Give me a slow, underpowered ship that has a hard time even performing it’s intended roll as a bomber that’s totally out-classed by the B-Wing. That’s the life for me!” Plus you get to fly with Darth Vader and get to join the Emperor’s secret cult . Who could ask for more?
Ah, the TIE Fighter vs X-Wing discussion. (As opposed the X-Wing vs TIE Figher the game.) Yes, TIE Fighter was an improvement on X-Wing. Duh. Iit was a sequel. It would have been a sad state of events if it weren’t better than the original.
But the question was about the cockpit, and X-Wing was where I saw the cockpit and was astonished at how accurately they portrayed what you saw when you watched the moved. Sure, TIE fighter was accurate too, but the important word there is “too”.
Funny note: the title of the episode gets cut off to: 031- TIGSOURCE COCK…
I noticed that too. Is it a bad sign that I found it funny?
