We talk to Felix Bohatsch, one of the guys behind the critically-acclaimed And Yet it Moves (which we previously reviewed) about how the game came to be, the learning experiences that come with releasing your first commercial product, the upcoming Wii version, and that $15 price point.

Sweet Episode! Loved the phone ringing, That was great!
I played Scary Girl, most beautiful game ever, But I agree with Felix. It got just a little boring.
I think it might get my vote though, after I play play Spewer. We’ll see…

Hi,
Thanks for the favourable review of Scarygirl. I realise this was posted a LONG time ago but thought I’d give a quick reply anyway.
Most of the bugs that existed have now been fixed, though a very small number (ones that are hard to reproduce, only happen to some people, might still be there).
For those that have the Flash 10 player there is now a full screen option (can only use arrow keys and space when in full screen mode though).
A quick note on it being “just old school platformy”. I think we were aiming for that in a way. Some of our fondest memories playing games were in the Mario/Sonic error and I think there can still be joy had for people from that, either from nostalgia or just plain good simple fun. We did add a lot of other kinds of gameplay in there as well though. At least a third of the game is played in different play styles, and levels can be accessed directly if you want to “cheat”. I do realise that it is our “fault” for not giving the user an experience of these different play styles until the fourth level (a master-mind style puzzle game) and it’s sad that some people didn’t make it past the third to really start getting into the game.
For anyone who wants to try some of the other “game styles” in there (there’s more as well) here’s some direct links.
http://scarygirl.com/world.php?level=rocketbike (Bike riding physics game)
http://scarygirl.com/world.php?level=tok (3D boss fight)
http://scarygirl.com/world.php?level=chihoohoo (Street Fighter-esque fun)
http://scarygirl.com/world.php?level=citybad (Platformer, but now you’ve got a gun!)
Anyway, hope you go back and give it another try. Would love more feedback from people.
Haha, I knew you were going to include Edmund’s new game in this week’s FIRF. Finally picked up his CD by the way, which is pretty awesome.
All three games this week are awesome, but Spewer will be my pick for this week. Guinea pig Edmund is hilarious.
I’m saddened that And Yet it Moves had poor sales. I’d like to get it, but I am on a pretty tight budget to justify spending 15 dollars for it.
Best browser game? Come on Anthony, we all know Robot Dinosaurs That Shoot Beams When They Roar is the best one out there.
I would re-make Alex Kid in Wonderland. Duh.
Yo quiero Bytejacker!
man I dunno about best browser game but certainly most addictive for me would be travian
http://travian.co.uk/
I got totally addicted to it for about 6 months constantly checking on my little village.
Funny that you mentioned Travian because I started playing that a while back and then that’s when sh** went down. My account was terminated by the creator of the site because my fiance had an account as well and we were both playing at home from the same internet ip and they thought that we were the same person and that we were “cheating” by creating two accounts so they shut us both down and were told we couldn’t reactivate unless we “apologized” and “admitted what we did was wrong.” Can you believe that?
I probably still have the e-mail lying around because I couldn’t believe it.
The best part of the story is, that not only did they shut down both our accounts but then they shut down her entire office at work who all played the game because they all shared the same internet.
So unfortunately Travian has left a bad taste in our mouths up here because they accused us all of cheating. It is sad though, because I was enjoying creating my little village and I can certainly understand what’s likable about it.
wow didnt realise they were so paranoid, though the last time i checked they did have about 3k users from all over the place.
Sucks you guys got banned, i managed to break free of that one after realising i was porbably going to get fired for it when the office admins pulled up a list of external sites and saw my bandwidth usage lol >.<
Geez, talk about video game hipster overload. ;)

The best browser game… I would say Twin Hobo Rocket (Edmund McMillen, Florian Himsl), I mean you gather your friends, get drunk and try to play it in groups of two… also both visuals and Kaada music are simply gorgeous.
right as soon as i play spwer then download it i go to you tube and find its on your show! so i voted for it. i beat way to quickly though
I would have to say that by far, my favourite flash game is Swords and Sandals 3: Solo Ultratus. It’s a great little turn based fighter with very customizable characters. You spend time upgrading your character and preparing for the next battle but you can also buy from an array of weapons and armor. It’s a really great game to play. Sadly, you only get to play a demo in your browser and you have to buy the full version if you’d like to carry onward with your quest BUT the demo is plenty long and is satisfying enough to at least get you to try it.

Best Browers? No, BBS games or Muds {seesmic_video:{“url_thumbnail”:{“value”:”http://t.seesmic.com/thumbnail/sbs5F3EX5H_th1.jpg”}”title”:{“value”:”Best Browers? No, BBS games or Muds ”}”videoUri”:{“value”:”http://www.seesmic.com/video/37gdj4hKzk”}}}

Dinorun is probably the best browser game ever. I never get bored of it. In fact, now I want to go play it more.
Best Browser Game is……………” QUAKE LIVE ”
Its ID’s new online fps game. Its still in Open Beta. The game is “recycled” from famous fast pace FPS called Quake 3 Arena but better graphics, more features and better gameplay. ID made the game FREE To Play and playable right into the Browser . its a Global.

I like to play Battlefield Heroes Beta very much, but are these new AAA Games with webstart really browser games? I don’t think so…
i liked the last stand very much
You know, if spewer’s too slow for you you can always download it:
http://www.newgrounds.com/downloads/flash/spewer.zip
Despite spewer’s famous creator, and despite the fact that it’s a partical based physics platformer (which is cool) I’m gonna have to go with paper moon this week. Most because I’m a sucker for red/blue 3D and I think more games need them. I’m real disappointed that they took that feature out of the update, and I hope they put it back.
Samorost 1 is the best browser game of all time
TEXT TWIST FTW {seesmic_video:{“url_thumbnail”:{“value”:”http://t.seesmic.com/thumbnail/MxT486JPSN_th1.jpg”}”title”:{“value”:”TEXT TWIST FTW ”}”videoUri”:{“value”:”http://www.seesmic.com/video/J82IZQ6jfi”}}}
Yeesh, look at my facial expressions… I clearly should not talk about exes on internet video…
Oh yeah, Text Twist is crazy awesome. Unfortunately the iPhone version of the game is completely different. Well, not completely different…but they shouldn’t have changed the formula.
I’m rather surprised. Off-Road Velociraptor Safari should immediately come to everyone’s mind as the best browser game ever. It wins by theme alone, but wins even harder because of the skill and timing required to nail that multi-raptor teleporting combo.
Best Flash Game: Desktop Tower Defence is easily the most addictive flash game I’ve ever played!
