I commend you, sir! I was going to say Final Fantasy VII as well… Now I know bringing up FF7 on the internet is almost like asking to get mauled by a bear since it’s grown such a….stigma about it, but I love that game. It was the first FF I had ever played and I tore through that game my first time…then I realized that *gasp* there was more stuff to do!!!! At that point, my life was no longer mine. I have data on my ps1 memory card that exceeds the time limit… it caps at 99:59. I have so much Gil that the counter is glitched out. At the end of battle it gives a full count, to which it states I have over 53 million Gil. I have every Materia in the game, 2 Golden Chocobos, 3 of each master materia… I have done EVERYTHING in that game…but one thing. I have yet to see Aeris’ Great Gospel Limit Break. To this day, I’ve yet to see it…. but from what I understand, you can. you just have to do it at an exact part in the game. Beats me though. After playing countless games to get a ‘perfect’ game, I gave up on seeing Great Gospel. in the end, I had completed everything there was to complete. And I lost years of my childhood for it….but that’s okay. :)
*SPOILER ALERT*
@Brian: I’m not sure if you knew it existed, but here’s a video of the lovely Aeris doing her 4th level limit thang.

I have nightmares about zombies every night. But yet I got over my fear to watch this episode. There’s nothing better then a episode of by by bytejacker. You need to start showing more typed comment. We don’t all have webcams.
Remember that you can also call us at (845) 704-7158 OR leave a message on our Skype voicemail. Our screenname is ‘bytejacker.’
Urrrrgh! Hard question guys. I’m with Jon on Final Fantasy 7, and the series in general. So many sidequests, so little time! Got hooked when I first heard the prelude theme and haven’t looked back since.
As for actually losing out on a Nobel prize, that may have already happened. Back at school there was an N64 in the common room with Super Smash Brothers and 4 functioning controllers. OH. MY. GOD. Every lunchtime, every free period, even at the end of the day when we REALLY should of been going home we played that game to death and back. We realised it was getting bad when we started skipping lessons just to play but man, was the competition sweet! Looking back now I realise that maybe that wasn’t the best use of my education, but at least no-one can touch me as Link!
@Jon: Some of us were sad enough to beat Emerald Weapon without the “underwater” and “knights of the round” materias. My parents must have worried when I ran around the house screaming!
Loving the new roof guys! Is it on top of an ex-drug factory?
My apartment is where the drugs get dealt {seesmic_video:{“url_thumbnail”:{“value”:”http://t.seesmic.com/thumbnail/p3bqAlGPe1_th1.jpg”}”title”:{“value”:”My apartment is where the drugs get dealt ”}”videoUri”:{“value”:”http://www.seesmic.com/video/XvXWKsaBzc”}}}
Omg gold chocobos! I’d completely forgotten about the hours spent raising one of those! Maybe FF7 did rob me of that nobel prize after all…
Didn’t realise new roof was your apartment! Apologies for offence. In my defence I did say it looked like an EX-drug factory. I’m sure since then it’s moved on to far more wholesome occupations! At least this roof doesn’t have the issue with background noise from the highway.
Speaking of roofs, what is the deal with Anthony’s landlord? Is he uncontactable or just the world’s most bitter, angry, rooftop-hating troll? Should we petition against this travesty of justice? Mail-bombs anyone?
None taken dude! ;) Getting up to my roof is a feat on its own. We don’t know why the landlord sealed the previous “new” roof. All we know is it’s sealed shut. About confronting him about it . . . . . poses a strange situation because we can say: “hey, why’d you seal the roof? It’s a fire hazard!” in which he could very well reply: “What the hell are you doing on my roof?!” So we’ve decided to leave it alone. We’ll just keep using mine until IT gets sealed.
The game that has eaten away most of my life was the Simpsons road rage for PS2. I unlocked every map and it took weeks then when I was finished I had no more holiday was over and I never got to go out side and play with my friends.
P.S. I never really had many friends back then.

Oh man, you’re my new favorite person Anthony. Any reference to the original Dreamcast PSO is absolute victory, and I have to agree with it as the game that sucked out most of my life. I can remember at least an 500 hour time on my best character…
I think I spent a whole hour running around that giant ring of light everyone is on after killing Dark Falz, just messing around with friends and racing.
… Some of my best video game memories.
This week my vote is going to SY!NSO! squid harder because the visuals in the game are superb and the game is addictive
also the game that took up most of my life when i was younger was super mario 64 and collecting all of the stars in the game including the 15 hidden stars
Mysterious Stranger’s Most Addicting Game {seesmic_video:{“url_thumbnail”:{“value”:”http://t.seesmic.com/thumbnail/N3eW56JZFr_th1.jpg”}”title”:{“value”:”Mysterious Stranger’s Most Addicting Game ”}”videoUri”:{“value”:”http://www.seesmic.com/video/YDzFPyk0H2″}}}
Man, that guy is weird. He should probably seek mental help. I blame the video games.
OMG Rorschach just left a video comment!!
I’m just hoping Rorscach doesn’t turn out to be the creator of the Ben Jordan series! Gotta agree with him though, Sims did eat my life too…Anyone going to get Sims 3, or are we all wise enough to have learnt the lesson now?
Rock Band 1/2, it’s taken away so many hours of my life. I’ve played Rock Band 2 almost EVERY day since it came out. I have around 10 DAYS of hours on that game, it’s just so addicting and great to play if you have a few friends over.
I lost most of my short life playing Runescape and Pokemon Yellow. I just couldn’t stop playing and raising all of my pokemon to lvl 99
Between beating the single player campaign with every character, conquering hell mode with the barbarian, and Battle.net, Diablo II sucked away a lot of my free time in high school.
I don’t really have a game that ate away most of my life, but I know I played The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for 14 hours straight.
(It IS a good game, just so you know.)
And also, it seems you have reversed the standings for Free Indie of the Week.
Pizza City was SO the best. AOOFAD, I agree, should’ve been in the middle, but… it’s not that I don’t like Glum Buster… well, THE THING CRASHED MY WHOLE DAMN COMPUTER.
what game?
super smash brothers melee.
now the term “metagame” makes me tremble.
Most played game is Earthbound. Just this year I got Ness to level 99 for like the 30th time. Still have the cart and play it religiously.
I also play allot of Harvest Moon on the SNES. The game is boring, but suprisingly fun and addictive as hell.
The Neverhood.
On at least five separate occasions,
walking through the hallway in the H building, trying to read all the sh*t on the walls.
Unlike the rest of my friends, I never had a problem with drugs. Well, now I can fit in thanks to The Sims franchise. Nothing is more addictive than playing God for a few hours.
I’d also like to predict that Sims 3 will completely ruin my life starting in June. Seamless neighborhoods, no more micromanaging of actions, quirky personality traits, the ability to kill off your sim in several different entertainingly painful ways and then control their ghost and make them have ghost babies…
…the power…the AWESOME POWER…
and you thought crack was good!
Phantasy Star Episodes I & II for Gamecube. I played it on split screen with my friends for hours and hours… The sad thing is, I went back and played Blue Burst for about a week and got to twice the level I had made it to from years of playing…
Rayman: Revolution {seesmic_video:{“url_thumbnail”:{“value”:”http://t.seesmic.com/thumbnail/zr4039YJGE_th1.jpg”}”title”:{“value”:”Rayman: Revolution ”}”videoUri”:{“value”:”http://www.seesmic.com/video/WnhNDtdVRt”}}}
Sorry I said super seb not Sebastian.
One little thing, you mention that Kaivo’s visual style is “inspired” by CACTUS, while on the screen the text reads: “Jukio Kallio ripping off MESSHOF”.
Otherwise, yet another great episode.
Uhm, whoops. My bad. I was sort of hoping no one picked up on that.
I’M SORRY, OKAY. What if I told you we more than make it up to Mark next week (hint hint)?
Sonic 3, I’d say. I’ve always played it. And I still do. I mean jesus I played it every single day as a kid. So much in fact that my parents kind of decided I play too much and that I need some limits. Sniff.
Pokemon Ruby {seesmic_video:{“url_thumbnail”:{“value”:”http://t.seesmic.com/thumbnail/EXClsgbQhx_th1.jpg”}”title”:{“value”:”Pokemon Ruby ”}”videoUri”:{“value”:”http://www.seesmic.com/video/oxlRQFqqmZ”}}}
I beat Ballos with the L.1 Bubbler. I feel that says what my answer to the question is.
The game that i have wasted the most time on is Team Fortress 2. I belive i have played it more then 300 hours since it came out and that’s quite alot concidering i’m still studying.
I think that the reason for it being so addicting must be that the gameplay is…. just… AWSOME!
who wouldn’t wanna blow your friends into Smitheroons? and wouldn’t it be fun to throw a big Jar of pee at someones face? if you like those things ( like me :D ) you will really get hooked on Team Fortress 2.
I can’t write a longer comment at the moment, i gotta add some hours on that gameplay!
Hey :)
Well the game that sucked out most of my life was unreal tournament 2004 and now ut3
The game that stole the most of my precious life force from me would definitely be the first Guitar Hero for ps2. It was the easiest in the series, and by FAR the best.
I voted for Staroid. What can I say? I have lots of fond memories of my C64, though Staroid looks a little too high resolution for C64. Maybe my mind is just playing tricks on my though. Who knows?
Speaking of C64, one of the games that consumed a considerable quantity of my life force was Jumpman for the C64. That game was awesome, but freaking hard! Of course, I was only like 10 at the time, so it might be easier now. Other honorable mentions include Starcraft, Warcraft 2 & 3, the original UT and the combined power of the King’s Quest and Quest for Glory games. I’m old school, what can I say? You people and your new-fangled Playstation 1′s!
I might actually be totally wrong, but I’m going to say the game that I actually spent the most time playing was Stars! Imagine this: my longest games lasted for thousands of years in game time, in those thousands of years I only saw maybe a quarter of the universe, billions of people were born and died, and I frequently spent the hours from midnight to 4am saying “Just one more turn…”. Yeah, it’s one of those kinds of games.
I’ve never heard of the game Stars! before and I’m having the devils time finding any information on it. Where can I get this game or even get information on it?

This whole exchange makes me love my show. You guys crack me up every week.
Also: Picross is severely underrated. And I agree wholeheartedly– some sequels add features, but lose the magic of the original.
I almost liken it to two people who love the same band that’s been around forever: each person will love the album they heard first the best, and will expect every other album to sound like that first album. Someone who started with The Bends isn’t necessarily going to dig on Kid A, etc.
…
Totally hipster douche of me to use Radiohead as my example.
All my friends who love OK Computer can’t stand In Rainbows and it makes no goddamn sense to me. You guys stuck through Amnesiac but can’t get into this???
I do maintain, though, that Blink 182′s first two albums were pretty fantastic (100% of my street cred is now gone).
Also, I’m so drunk from karaoke right now… Happy Memorial Day, Bytejacker!
How can you not be insulted about what he said. I’m mad he said about Barn The Rope and he did not have to insult me about loving stupid to do that.
I love everything Radiohead has done, except for Pablo Honey. I just don’t really even consider it to be Radiohead when I hear any of those songs come on my iPod. I like to imagine that it never happened.
Plus, I grind to Kid A and Amnesiac.
Are you kidding, man? Pablo Honey is some seriously sweet 90′s guitar pop! “You”, “Prove Yourself” and “I Can’t” are among my fave Radiohead tracks, and you’ve got to love “Blow Out”. But yeah, Kid A is just about the closest thing I’ve ever heard to a perfect album.
When you say you grind to Kid A and Amnesiac, do you mean leveling up your RPG characters or making love? You know what… TMI either way. Forget I asked.
RPGs, of course. I don’t have time for the ladies. Because I’m too busy grindan.
Cymon, you did say he loved stupid and I would be mad at you if you insulted me like that.
Plus You Have To Barn The Rope is a great game. It’s people like you who said Star Trek is a bad movie.

The game that i have spent the most time on would have to be a multi-player game. So i would have to say team fortress 2. I also play rpgs, but you lose so much time into a multi-player game without even realizing it.
A decade back Starcraft took up many hours I even played at school. (1st)
In the past Contra and Super Mario Bros 3. I still play them(2nd)
A few years back Unreal Tournament 2004 took up so much time. (3rd)
It’s funny, since your name is TF2.

Didn’t think I would convince you of anything. Didn’t think I’d convince anyone of anything. Just wanted to state my observations. But they’re not the reasons I quit the game. I quit it because it just wasn’t for me. Enjoy it all you want, tho.
The series that sucked out most of my HP was definitely Pokemon for the GameBoy. Insanely addictive.
Long live bytejacker!
Joe or Cymon,
I get what you mean, the game is bad but as Anthony said it’s a statement about the freedom of indie games but I don‘t need anymore games like that. And this is a great community of indie gamers and game makers.
B.T.W. That game Stalin vs Martians looks like it’s terrible. Long Live Bytejacker!

Leave it to the camera guy to come up with the firewire solution.
I knew you were a camera guy, Jon. I watched a few of your demo reels.
Anthony, tho, talked about almost losing his jobof the TIGSource compo games. I thought maybe at least he had a 9 to 5, like the rest of us working schmoes.
My internet is acting really slow so I’m just going to do a comment instead of a video. First thing Joe, thanks for replying to my comment, and I will be making a video reply soon but I can’t with my internet acting up. Second thing Anthony, maybe whoever has the best idea for next week’s questions gets a camera or what ever prize is going to be given? And Joe I agree time travel is bad in lots of cases and why do you think Iive in the east coast?
Best regards,
Sebastian
Super Seb, I was talking about Sanskrit. He lives in New York, or there abouts, tho I don’t remember how I know that. I have no idea where you’re from. Tho since you didn’t deny it I’m thinking you’re an easterner too.
Probably from the Facebook forum. All of us douchebag hipsters live in NYC. Four years of college out of state and I swore I would never leave my ancestral metropolis again. All of my mannerisms that read as being a total asshole elsewhere are merely commonplace and rather benign here, though I’ve been told by several friends and employers that I’d fit in fine in Chicago as well. What does that say about Chi-town?
Joe, just call me Seb it’s short for Sebastian.
I actually live in England, jolly old England but I was born in the US.
I do visit my nana who lives in the east coast.
And what has happened to the community? Nobody has been leaving comments for the last two days
No one’s talking on here because it’s almost been a week and we don’t have anything else to say. Wait until the next episode is out and we’ll all be back for a few days.
Plus we had a 3 day weekend here in the states, which I’m sure influenced more than a few people to post a little more.
Starcraft has taken a lot of my life away
and on X360 Left 4 Dead.
Day of Defeat: Source has taken the most of my time away. It’s visualy appealing and unique in the fact that its not just another mission based game.
