It’s the internet age version of a rainy day activity book as we make some video game papercraft. It might also be 1994 — or 1984 — as we check out Weezer: The 8-Bit Album.

Those are pretty stylish and easy to make. Also there are a lot of adorable illustrations in her blog. Enjoy!
oh! And I made this one: http://chrone.livejournal.com/165292.html
papercraft is awesome, but my printer is all broken and stuff, so I cant join in D:
however I found cool software called pepakura designer recently, so if anyone is into 3D modelling, you can dump your models in there and make papercraft :D
(also works with models ripped from games, I’m just saying… >.>)
as for my fave RPG? if I’m not allowed to say FF I pick ginormo sword!
Excellent ending! Anthony, you rock. :D
Papercraft is great i have build a companion cube ^^
my fav rpg is secret of mana 2 (Seiken Densetsu 3)
The Best ever on the snes!
I’d love to see your papercraft WCC! You should totes put up a video comment displaying it on the Papercraft article: http://www.bytejacker.com/?p=1512
I always loved the idea of paper but never got round to trying any myself, think i’m gonna go for the little gordon :) best rpg ever FALLOUT (without the 3 part yesyes)
I love you too. <3
GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE, NIJMAN!
Favourite RPG? Make that a jRPG, Live-a-live. It’s fairly obscure for a Squaresoft game, and it’s far from your standard Final Fantasy fare.
What I like most is that you don’t have a big, epic story you play through with one character (Or team, for that matter), but rather 8 small unrelated stories, each with it’s own setting, atmosphere and characters.
Also, there was an indie-as-hell MMORPG called Seed. Go ahead, try finding info about that, heh heh.
Star Control 2…of course {seesmic_video:{“url_thumbnail”:{“value”:”http://t.seesmic.com/thumbnail/Zp2uEMZUuO_th1.jpg”}”title”:{“value”:”Star Control 2…of course ”}”videoUri”:{“value”:”http://www.seesmic.com/video/neBu03PxDK”}}}
Is XCom an RPG (sorry about the shake) {seesmic_video:{“url_thumbnail”:{“value”:”http://t.seesmic.com/thumbnail/Z1LbqUUSxQ_th1.jpg”}”title”:{“value”:”Is XCom an RPG (sorry about the shake) ”}”videoUri”:{“value”:”http://www.seesmic.com/video/kgM4RBBQmE”}}}
XCOM is an interesting example because it’s somewhat like a squad-based tactical RPG, mixed with a turn-based strategy game. Aside from the dice rolls, you also have to manage your characters speed, health, and fatigue. And speaking of health, it has a very in-depth health system, with area-specific damage. Actuallly, you even have to manage inventory for each of them as well.
That being said, it certainly has strategy elements involved. The number of characters you have on a mission plays a big part, and there’s a huge emphasis on strategy and making your guys work as a team. Plus when you’re out of the battle grid, the entire game is focussed on research, development, manufacturing, and patrolling the skies.
I think really the game is too much of a strategy game to label it as an RPG. That being said, it’s too much of an RPG to label it as a strategy game.
I guess it just sits neatly on the line between.
Ok. Ok. That was the funnest BJ moment ever! When you went bouncing after that guy! Holy Cow! I was laughing. Where do you come up with this stuff?
How about Kingdom Hearts 2 for my fav RPG. I prefer action RPGs and Kingdom Hearts 2 is awesome!
-Elmernite
Oh darn, somehow I forgot about Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. Oh well, I figured someone else would say it anyway so at least it got a mention.
(Strangely enough, both me and my game-playing Mum prefered the first Kingdom Hearts to some degree.)
I guess Golden Sun & Golden Sun 2 are the best RPG’s that I had ever played.
P.S. – Bytejacker is awesome!!!
Sweet paper craft, I checked it out. My manual dexterity score wasn’t high enough for paper craft…:[
Favorite RPG…Xenogears. Not the whole series, but just the first one. It’s right up there with Chrono Trigger, Elder Scrolls IV, and Breath of Fire

My favorite RPG?
Easily:
Star Ocean: The Second Story.
Hands down.
It’s TAnaka. Third syllable from the right emphasized first, Anthony.

Hmm, Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars is a really great game, but is it an RPG? Let’s answer these few questions together, shall we?
Does it have a “leveling up” system where your character stats can be improved over time? (Bonus points if the player has control over the stats that get leveled up.)
Okay, we can stop right there, because if it doesn’t have this isn’t not an RPG and the rest of the questions have to do with the leveling up system. So not an RPG but still a great game.
Gosh, Broken Sword, what a brilliant game. I loved that game.
But Broken Sword is a point-and-click adventure game. =D
IT’S A POINT-AND-CLICK PURE ACTION!!!
CAPSCAPSCAPS!
sorry
the best rpg i have ever played is chrono cross
i could probably write an essay on how it surpasses every game.
except maybe majora’s mask.
favorite RPG of all time? Diablo II, hands down.
Oh and 8bit Buddy Holly blew my mind

RPG’s, I have been waiting for this question. It has to be pokemon, just kiding if you do answer pokemon you really need to try out some of the awsome RPG’s available out there. My all time favorite RPG is Dot Hack(or .Hack) but not the new G.U. series the old hard as hellll so long they put into four parts series. Unbelievable Idea, playing a game about a kid playing a game, I have yet to find another game like it(G.U. just doesnt count). If you have never heard of the game I highly recomend it, go buy it it’s for the PS2.
There is a squirrel at 2:44!!
What the hell? Can’t see my comments at all. Never. Anybody? Am I banned or smth?
Favorite RPG is Morrowind I guess. It’s all just about world, atmosphere. Cliff jumping, pearl hunting, tombs raiding.
Obliviaon sucked about that though.
I addressed before that I also suffered this issue, both with normal comments and video comments.
However, apparentely everyone else can see my comments as soon as I’ve made them and I can see them sometimes straight away now and sometimes within a week, so fret not.
Sorry bout that Chrone, I don’t know why it’s doing that. Must be something on the seesmic end. Put a url to the seesmic link and I’ll be sure to check it out.
Sorry about that. Like I’ve said before, sometimes our spam filter grabs legit comments. I go through the spam filter at least once a day and make sure there aren’t any false positives.
It doesn’t happen often, but if it does happen to you, please be patient, we go through the spam queue as often as we have time for. Eventually we’ll institute registration and this will no longer be an issue.
Joe,
The page is not working, I can’t download ASCIIpOrtal. I’ve bean on holiday.
e-mail, man. I mean I got the comments RSSed, but still, if you got my e-mail that should be your first stop. Etiquette. Pinky’s up.

You are officially the awesomest!!!
I wish I had the time and patience to do that.
Good job to you :DD
Hey, I just had like the best week of my life! Why, you ask? because I just started watching Bytejacker a week or two ago and decided to catch up…on ALL THE EPISODES! It was crazy, a YEAR of AWESOMENESS in a week! Thanks, you guys are awesome. I also like William the Sly’s animations and QQUAK has a cool name and is wicked fun!
best RPG of all time {seesmic_video:{“url_thumbnail”:{“value”:”http://t.seesmic.com/thumbnail/1sB3LcNtBz_th1.jpg”}”title”:{“value”:”best RPG of all time ”}”videoUri”:{“value”:”http://www.seesmic.com/video/VDuKOloVfc”}}}
I like QQUAK! The graphic style is cool although its funny when you turn near a white wall and cannot tell you are turning.
My favorite RPG is System Shock 2 because of it compelling story and incredible atmosphere. I’ve never been more scared while playing a game.
I’m surprised that no one has mentioned Diablo, Baldur’s Gate, or Deus Ex. All three of these are excellent PC RPGs.
Baldur’s Gate 2 is my favorite RPG. Every tactic is a cheap tactic, therefore none of them are.
No time for a video comment this week, guys. Sorry, I know how much you must miss my face.
Having spent entirely too much time in art school designing and constructing tiny boxes and books, papercraft holds a very special zen-like place in my heart right next to the smell of gamblin oil or a freshly opened bag of puffed cheez doodles. When I got a bigger desk at my office earlier this year and realized how empty it was, the first thing I did was make a papercraft of the Prince from Katamari Damacy to keep my books company and occupy space.
Favorite RPG? Totally not my genre, but I’m going to go with The World Ends With You because it stuck to all the conventions of the JRPG without all of the boring, tedious annoying crap that keeps me far away from such games. To date I have never played more than five minutes of any game with both the words “Final” and “Fantasy” in its title, but lord, did I enjoy running around the streets of Shibuya, picking out trendy clothes and buttons to wear and grinding against otherworldy beasts until my eyes went all blurry from the intense glow of power coupled with repeatedly darting back and forth between two screens of simultaneous combat. I even played those time travel bonus missions after beating the game. About halfway through the game, i rummaged through my drawer full of buttons I collected through college and started picking out groups of six to wear to work, changing them up every week or so. That game messed with my head in the best way.
I see there are a lot of JRPG fans out there.
I, too, enjoy them but my favourite RPG is still Planescape: Torment!
My favorite rpg of all time is Dragon Quest VII.
Its storyline was great. It had many interesting quests and enemies, and its characters all had distinct personalities. There were also many diverse weapons and skills. It had a great bit of space to explore and many towns to visit.
Even after you defeated the final boss you could still entertain yourself at the dragonian trials.
