Oh man, Time Donkey and Canabalt? It’s like I chose the week that all the awesome games were released.
Either way, thanks for the feature guys <3
Beacon is a superbly implemented, beautiful game. I’m very impressed. In my book it’s an achievement to get anything working in less than 48 hours, but hats off to Chevy Ray for raising the bar.
Holy crap awesome free indies this week;
Time Donkey – Most Hilarious
Canabalt- Most Fun
Beacon- Most brilliant, with awesome ending :D
2009 is apparently the year of Sanskrit getting hella musical.
Also, the Free Indies this week all look radical. Cannot w8 to play them.

It’s getting annoying how rubbish my webcam is. I really, really need a new one, huh?
My friend suggested I can borrow hers a while back.
Yeah, me too. Not as bad as you, but still.
Thanks man, the backyard is a nice alternative to the roof on days we can’t get up there. I personally don’t mind it but this shows reputation was built on rooftops and we can’t jeopardize that now can we?
I’m throwing down for Beacon, definitelys.
So many thoughtful atmospheric touches for a Ludum Dare entry.
I haven’t played the new version yet; excited to do so!

Text comment now. Maybe record it as a video comment later.
That was a long review for a “skip it” game. Just sayin’s all.
You do love grappling hooks. Me, assuming physics wasn’t an issue, the dagger from Sands of Time. Even if it meant turning everyone I know into sand demons just being allowed to turn back all the little stupid moments in my life would be totally worth it.
If I had to choose something that didn’t break the laws of physics… I’ll have to think about it.
I actually like that backyard of yours. See you doing the show from your tiki bar.
Oh, yeah, jam it out Sanscrit.
Fix the formatting on your “Add a video comment” button. It’s all the way to the right. What’s up with that?
Riffly hooks into an external stylesheet that’s conflicting with ours in a weird way. I’ve written to them about it. Let’s see if they’re better responders than Seesmic.
Great episode and great three games, I mean it! Usually there are 1 or 2 games I play from the rapid fire, but today was that rare time when all of them were so yummy…
\Oh and I love how you every time try to irritate people who only comment via text… so that is why i am back commenting :)
I recorded a video comment for this week but for some reason the audio was horrible (It’s not my mic so presumably riffly just doesn’t like me). Should you wish to brave the video it’s here:

The gist of what I said was this:
Time Donkey – neat idea but I couldn’t get on with the controls, especially the camera.
Canabalt – very cool. The collapsing buildings and the robot thing that jumps down were ace but the windows were annoying. Also could’ve done with a story mode.
Beacon – my free indie for this week. Slowly introduces new elemets of gameplay which kept it fresh and the ending is wonderful.
Aw, man…this is awesome.
I’m going to vote for Beacon, because it’s such a high-quality experience for a 48-hour game, plus I’m still in debt to Chevy Ray.

(I really hope it hits me with the ad or my gag is for naught)
I commented on this owhen it was mentioned last episode, but most people might not have seen it:
Seesmic (our old video comment provider) is no longer updating their wordpress plugin. They didn’t bother to tell me this in advance, nor did they give me an acceptable answer or any kind of support when I emailed them about it.
Riffly actually seems to be a better system, but it’s a paid service. I totally don’t mind paying for the video comments- they’re my favorite part of the show. However, after my experiences with Fliggo (the company that was supposed to be running the backend video system for the Gamerdrome), I’m hesitant to jump right into paying for something until I see how a service works and — more importantly — how the company responds to support issues.
Because of this, we’re currently using a free level account with Riffly. Free accounts require the display of ad units in the video player. If Riffly proves to be a decent system, and they answer the support ticket I put in about integrating the audio/video buttons into our theme, I’ll subscribe and we’ll get the ads off.
Just to be totally clear: these are NOT our ads. We make NO money off of these. They’re simply a temporary requirement to keep the video comment system running.
Yeah, but it was funny, huh.
I’m actually getting better results with Riffly than Seesmic. It’s probably a Flash/Java plugin issue at my end but Seesmic video comments never played in my Chrome browser. I could only hear the audio. Riffly works straight off the bat. Hopefully we can get rid of the ads soon :)
Free Indie Game: how could you go past a donkey that travels through time collecting tacos?!
Real Life Video Game Item: Oooh! Tough choice! Um…hah…how about a save point so I can go back to parts of my life where I’ve massively failed and try again? :)
Lady Commenters: Are you seriously telling me that I’m the first female commenter in over 50 episodes of Bytejacker?!

Item i would love to have IRL: The Ocarine of time and a bag of bombs…. cus bombs are awesome. Or all the Pin collection from The world ends with you (why do i keep bringing up that game in every week’s question?)
Oh man, I just realised that Beacon is a reverse escourt mission. I’m playing as the incompetent doofus who can’t keep up whilst the glowing orb, I like to imagine, is getting more exasperated with each time I die and complaining about my crappy AI.
Feedback:
I want mix between:
– Gravity gun (HL2)
– Physics Gun (Garry’s Mod)
– and Portal Handheld Device (Portal)

Right there with you on the windows dude. They’re so fucking infuriating, especially when you’re in the zone and having an otherwise excellent run.
Does anyone watch the video comments but me. I said that. The window sucks. I hate it. But I can’t stop playing it.
Why am I so weak?

Congrats Jim!
You get the award for best lit video comment. I usually need a little color correction on theese things.
I gotta hand it to ya, a board with a nail in it . . . . . pretty slick thinking. You got me cracking up with that one.
Oh, great. It’s not enough people are worried about how they look and sound, now you’ve gotta freak them out about production value.
Good one, douchebag.
Got to the end of Beacon and it was awesome. Laughed so hard. I think I’m changing my vote.

It’s worth noting that Danny B (http://dbsoundworks.com/) did the soundtrack to two of the three Free Indies this week: Canabalt and Time Donkey. Hot.
