Robot Tank for the Atari 2600… You we’re in a tank (duh!) but the color and the controls way over the time…

But to be more “now days” I’d also say Half-Life… It was a breaking point for me and my buddies.

My favorite FPS by far is Unreal Tournament. The game was fast paced, had crazy awesome guns (Cmon, the Flack Cannon is the best gun ever… well okay maybe the Redeemer =p ), awesome music, complex level designs and by far the best map editor I’ve ever seen for a FPS. The mod community for UT was ridiculous as well.
