I know i said i was going to just do super mario rpg in spite of Headphonic but it is not my favorite Super Nintendo game. Mine is Megaman X3. One reason being is the fact that it is the only X game the allows X to use Zero’s Z Saber. Megaman X6 also had this feature but i thought the weapon was just complete bull crap. X3 was far superior to the Z saber addition to X’s arsenal. Also it had some of the best upgrades, Double Air dash, Healing. This was all included in the Golden Armor upgrade. My opinion though, the Ultimate armor in the future games was superior though cause of the Nova Strike.
The bosses in X3 had to be the fucking hardest i’ve ever faced in a megaman game. Just try to beat them without using their weapon weakness. I can manage off killing blizzard buffalo and the drill rhino just at the start with no upgrades whatsoever.
X1, X2, X4, X5, X6, X7, and X8 had some pretty easy bosses. X3 had the hardest in my opinion.
For the record i made this video on the 12th, during the time we had that small dilemma. So just letting yall know ahead of time.
Dammit Final Fantasy had some good games on the super nintendo as well.

Shucky-darn didn’t make it. Although I am pleased that “Cowboy Killa” is actually finished (spotted it on Pixel Prospector a while ago) I was surprised that “Quietus” wasn’t part of this weeks games. You guys should check it out. Warning before you play it, it is a DIFFICULT 1 screen platformer. You will die many times.

Yoshi’s island was the absolute shit. You know why? Bowser at the end was badass.
So now we have New Super Mario Bros for the WII. Ok now this game is just Super Mario Bros 1, 2, 3 and yoshi’s island jammed into one. Super Mario 1 with the flags, Super Mario 2 with the ability to pick stuff up. Super Mario 3 with all the koopalings in my way throughout all eight worlds, including bowser jr. Finally Yoshi’s island, Kamek flying by with it’s fairy dust that made bowser into a big giant beast As the final boss. As he did in Yoshi’s island and in the new Wii game.
Good stuff Good stuff. Only thing i didn’t like was the whole timer for Baby Mario and that counted as your score. That is so lame. Then like every once in a great while a red flying thing came and kept moving mario away from me.
The problem with Super Mario World, i don’t know if anyone is going to pick that game, i thought it was tooooo easy. It literally takes me about 15 minutes to beat it.
Star fox is a different story. Ok first time i heard of Star Fox was for the Nintendo 64. I guarantee that if next weeks feedback question was Nintendo 64. Everyone will be saying this game and mostly this game, that would be Legend of Zelda ocarina of time. Anyone can’t disagree with this, that game was godly. Almost superior to Twilight Princess.
Ocarina of time had one thing that a lot of games didn’t, Good bosses, master quest, kickass Ganondorf who made the very last Ganon fight one that no one could forget. Twinrova itself was even a fun fight. I loved how the two ugly witches fused together and then it showed links face and he was like. Uhhhh crap. Then she winks at him. HOLLLLLLYYYYYY SHIT!!!!
I’m rambling on, but good pick, yoshi’s island is just awesome. But my pick is still Megaman X3
@Your comments on CowboyKilla: Rage mode does actually make you faster. it slows down the game a little, but relative to everyone else, you’re quicker. You’re also invincible.
The biggest thing, though, is that your combo doesn’t “die.” When your final score is tallied, your highest combo is a big factor, so taking advantage of rage mode to get a big big combo multiplier (x20, x30, etc) is important.
I think I had noticed the combo thing when rage mode was on. As for moving faster, like I said on every machine I had access to the game ran slugish, so I didn’t notice that. And for invincibility,,, well it’s hard to notice what’s not happening.
I tried to like the game, really I did. Just wasn’t my cup of tea I guess.
Alright, I’ve decided my vote is going to Amil because I think (I hope) it’s the underdog of the two and I want my vote to go towards evening the odds.

Wait… Crimson Skys? Okay, hold of on the weeniectimy, one week suspension of man card to be served retroactively and deferrable if you can show evidence of past emasculation at some point. Wait, you’re married. Good enough.
Personally I’m a big fan of the Crimson Skys on the XBox and wish it existed on the PC, tho there is a PC Crimson Skys game and I own it, but it’s too flight simulator for my liking. I never played the board game. But really it’s the whole mythos that I love. Fantastic alternate history where the 30s never ended. I have a historian buddy of mine who would probably nit-pick certian aspects of their alternate history for forgetting certian historical events that would still take place and how they’d be affected by the collapse of the US government and whatnot, but who cares? Friggin awesome speed planes.
I don’t have final fantasy 6 for the super nintendo, though i do have it for the GBA. Now i don’t know what the difference is, i only one is that they threw in a super hard dungeon which had………kaiser dragon and omega weapon in it.
Now the problem with Final Fantasy 6 was that i thought it was way too short and easy. So once Kefka turns the world into ruins that is basically it, your done, you don’t even need to grab all the other characters like terra or shadow or locke, just hop into kefka’s tower and hope for survival. The three gods weren’t fun, but neither was kefka himself. The first time i saw final fantasy 6 was on youtube. Watching someone fight the last boss. Which i knew it was a final fantasy game, but didn’t know which one it was. Finally finding out it was 6, and that it was being released for the Game boy, i bought it.
The last boss was just……odd, i’ll say it was the oddest boss of the series. Like what was the point of the first 3 levels of the boss? I don’t know maybe someone can tell me, but you had the bottom part with the head and two arms, then the middle part with what looked like a muscle man, a tigers head and some other crap. The top part which looked like to angel statues. Then you reach the top, i thought i died and now i’m in heaven, but no kefka comes down looking like a purple flying archangel. Now if your properly prepared then you can easily win, i had locke with 2 ultima weapons which each did 99999. 99999 times 8 is 799992, which is overkill for kefka. So easily kefka can be killed with only one character in one turn. How pathetic.
Now when they start doing the playstation one feedback question. Final Fantasy 7 is going to blow everything away, and everybody knows it. Same for legend of zelda for the nintendo 64.

In my defense, Sailor Moon was one of the first anime series I ever watched (that and Dragon Ball Z and Guyver), and as such it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Second, the game was given to me by a friend who said the following line with a straight face. “Dude, if you can beat this game without cheating, you are a real man.” It was presented to me as a challenge. One that I lost after 2 hours.
As for FF6, I’m a completionist when it comes to RPG’s, so the last fights are always a joke for me. but it’s the story that really amazes me every time I play it. It touches on so many human emotions and fears. Fantastic.

sailor moon. I kid you not.
Really, find the rom and give it a shot. it starts out really easy, then goes straight to BS-ville after the team splits up. Enemies level with the active party, and mostly mirror the average stats too, but they get skills that you have little to no defense for. The only way to have a fighting chance is to equip gear that boosts stats. The only way to get said sear is to find it while you’re trying to fight off tougher and tougher opponents. It’s a flawed game design that makes the game nearly unbeatable without a perfect walkthrough or way too much time to play a Sailor moon game.
I accept that challenge. Now what are the rules of this challenge? What can i do and what can’t i do? May i use walkthroughs to guide me on my way?
And what is the real name of it? So i know what i’m downloading.

Here’s the rules: do a search for “Sailor moon translated rom” the first site you see will be the one you want. Go down to “Sailor Moon Another Story” and grab it. Load it up and try to get through it.
normal mode: Use a walkthrough or cheats (if you can find/make them)
Hard mode: use Walkthrough only
Nightmare mode: Go commando. (no walkthrough)
I went with no walkthrough, with the warning that I would need to search everywhere for items. The beginning part is laughably easy. the hardest part is navigating through the massive starting town. But when the team splits up is when the challenge begins. Good luck.

Teenage mutant turtles: turtles in time is a masterpiece, it’s like the Arcade game but you can’t play four turtles at once. Chrono trigger? I thought that was just only for DS? That was originally for Super Nintendo? Well…..i learned something today, Chrono trigger is awesome. I have it for DS and i think Lavos is the biggest asshole of a boss i’ve ever faught. Magus who is evil and joins you was just the icing on the cake of making it a kickass RPG. For the DS they include a badass boss from Chrono Cross which is Lavos with some female attached to it’s head. Two Magus’s in the whole scene which was confusing. Kicked it’s ass though with Chrono, Toad, and magus.
Contra 3 is also a badass game, but i hate how you can’t get a decent ending untill you officially beat the game on the hardest mode there is. Level 5 with that big blob boss that has arms come out and fire comes out is the hardest damn boss in the whole game. Anything that follows you while your on a spinning playform is just complete bullshit.
Earthbound i never played. :(

Zelda link to the past, that game is just too toooooo toooooooooooo easy!!! Come on man, games shouldn’t be this easy, Ganon himself was a big pushover, he was harder in the first original Zelda game.
Megaman 7, now were talking, but i didn’t like how you had to fight cloudman, junkman, freezeman, and burst man before shademan, turboman, slashman, and springman. Like what’s the deal with that, they couldn’t just have all 8 on one screen and make things easier for all of us. Though the RUSH suit made things a lot of fun, but you need 999 bolts just to get the arm expansion. So i sit in shademan’s stage for like 5 hours killing robot zombies till i got 999 bolts. What a ripoff. The big bolt for Turbo didn’t help all that well. And Dr. Wily was in fact the easiest in this game, he was way harder in megaman 8, 9, and possibly 10.

Aight, here’s my feedback. I’ve played Cowboy Killa before, which was kind of a letdown :\, and I’ve only played Steambirds for a short while so I’m going to have to go through it properly. Just started Amil though, and that music is crazy addicting. And I think one of the songs was some remix of the Animal Crossing music.
I love super mario RPG. Only problem is that, i thought it was just a tad bit too hard. Without the proper equipment necessary to defeat Culex, and smithy himself.
Though i know how much you do love this game. Remember the Axem Rangers? Those five were the hardest in the whole game in my opinion.
A lot can relate it would really suck if they came back, well speak no further……they did.

Good choice. I was glad SNES went out with a bang when they released it. Made me a little sad actually that they pushed the power of the snes so far with that title and then stopped. I always wondered if they made a sequel what Super Mario RPG 2 would have been like on the snes. Yes I know Paper Mario was basically Super Mario RPG 2 but not to me. But anyways good choice.
They basically have a sequel involving the Axem Rangers and Smithy. The chaos emeralds they try to capture and use to revive smithy. Super mario bros Z it’s called on youtube.

Oh….my god. That game. THAT GAME. No, I haven’t played it, but I watched a “Let’s Play” on Youtube and I’m scarred for life. I keep expecting some scary ass kid to pop out from the backseat of my car ready to murder me. I had to close all the doors in my bedroom before sleeping for like 2 weeks after watching it.
That being said, I am a total pansy when it comes to video games. I’m absolutely mortified of horror games, but have a crazy obsession over watching them. Unfortunately for me, my oldest brother stopped playing many video games, and my other older brother is more of a Mario fan. So really, I have no one to play them for me…if that makes sense. Heck, even the Bottom of the Well in Ocarina of Time scared the shit out of me (and I usually just ended up throwing the controller at my brother to make him play it for me). But I digress.
I agree that it was insanely original. The simplicity of it is really what makes it so terrifying, and I like the fact that (like every awesome horror game) it has its OMGWTFHALP moments.

I say the best SNES game ever made was Legend of Zelda – A Link to the Past. The game was hours of fun and then you warp to a different world on the same map for more fun. There was so much to do, so many weapons to get and so many great puzzles all across it. I know its the best in my eyes because anytime I want to play an emulator like my hacked PSP, A link to the past is what I spend most of my time on.
Oh, Secret of Mana rocked too… But gotta give it all to LINK!
Ever play the Game boy Advance version? There is a four sword adventure, but it is also required to complete a sidequest in LTTP. Without beating the four sword part you couldn’t do it. Favorite SNES game: Harvest Moon
I’m going to sound like a prick for asking this, never played harvest moon. So is it like Farmville on facebook? Just wondering. I seriously never played it.
No, it’s much more in depth and really, an actual game. You play a farmer in a town (usually on an island) and it’s your job to revitalize the farm you’re given. You can grow a number of crops, take care of animals, interact with the towns people, attend festivals, try to marry one of the eligible bachelorettes.. and other stuff depending on which Harvest Moon game you’re playing.

I actually recorded my comment on my webcam offline then brought the video into final cut pro (the program I edit Bytejacker with) and scaled down your comments and placed them over top my rap. When the video was done, I uploaded it to my viddler acct. and then selected “choose video” from the popup window that you get when you hit the video comment button below. Then I picked it and shabang!
Basically you just need a video editing program, but you don’t need anything fancy. Most comps have something basic pre-installed.
Also I used the “I am T-Pain” app for the iPhone which in my opinion is the greatest app ever.
Could this be done with Viddler? or do i need a specific program to edit the video?

This was way better than the invention of pop! i said that about pokemon a few weeks back. Well now i say it again.
I don’t know why, but I never managed to love the Super Nintendo. I really liked it, with its tremendous horsepower, fancy graphical modes and beautiful sound processing, but the games… I look at the list Dash put together, and even if they’re undoubtedly great games, not one of them brings back such powerful memories as the Sega Genesis’ games do. And I guess that’s the point: for all its greatness, the Super Nintendo had few truly memorable games.
On to the feedback question: I’ve never been able to name that “one favorite thing”, as I don’t really think there’s such a thing as an “absolute truth”; a favorite dish, a favorite band, a favorite movie (“Conan the Barbarian” comes really close to that, though)… So, as already happened last week, I can’t really point my finger at one single game. But I’ll keep it down to 3 that I feel strongly about: the “Dragon Ball Shin Butouden” series, “Chrono Trigger”, and the original “Super Mario Kart”
As I already told you once about “Shin Butouden”, and “Chrono Trigger” is Jon’s pick (I’m still dazzled by your video comment, Jon. Brilliant!!), let me throw just 2 words about “Super Mario Kart”: Battle.Mode. Awesome!!! O_o
Back in the day, I didn’t have that game (now I do… yay! :D), but it was available for rental (in a time when you could rent games in this country). So I rented it like every weekend for months and played it with my cousin for hours. We would play one of the cups, as a sort of warm-up, and then dive into the Battle Mode, and man was that fun! Running around the track, looking for the rightfully feared red shell, the exhilaration of the hunt (hunter or prey, it didn’t matter!)…
A great, great game!

Today I decided to get my friend Joels opinion on the subject. My pick was Super Mario World and his was Final Fantasy 3. Both very standard answers but reasons are valid at least.
I loved Super Mario World for a couple reasons but the main would have to be my sister. My sister and I never really played many games together, usually it was my brother and I, and it was nice to have a couple of games that she was better at then me. She was always better at Donkey Kong Country too and I would play it with her even tho I never really dug the game.
Mario RPG was another good one. The timing system in the fighting was a great idea. It would keep me involved in the turn based battles and would feel great when I timed it right for extra damage. I feel like every big SNES game was excellent. Super Metroid is on there even tho I didn’t get to play it when I was younger but got to enjoy it when I got older and went through my rebellious stage with them. Oh to be young again….

if ya thought super mario world was hard with the Cape flying. Try Brutal mario, there is a level that really does test your cape flying.
Super mario 3 is for the NES, the difference being that you could have items that helped you on your way. Three whistles and a bunch of crap.
Super metroid is just easy if you know where your going. Then at the end the mother brain gains a big bad ass body and demolishes you then you come back with the hyper beam and just completely own the mother brain.
I’m putting my two cents in. As far as the three whistles and a bunch of crap goes for Super Mario 3, YES…I AGREE with that, because the whistles helped me jump from level 1 to like level 9 or something, which meant I could cheat, in a way…I don’t know what the level was the level you could go into the clouds…that was actually my favorite level…and THEN I used the second whistle to get to the LAST level of the game…and don’t ask me how, buuuut I BEAT it! I call it the H. E. Double hockey sticks level…(don’t wanna say **** on here…but you all know what I mean)…with the bomb looking machines, like a tank…TOTALLY LOVED that level, if you can believe it! But that was played on an OLD Nintendo system…like a 1999 system…
I’ts considered “Dark Land” On the NES version but they changed it to bowser’s castle. Cause it is bowser’s castle at the very end.
World 5 is Sky Land i believe.
As for Super mario world and bros 3. You can easily beat them in like 20 minutes. A guy did a video beating Super mario bros 3 in 11 minutes exactly.
ohhhh, okay…see, it’s been a decade, and everything’s newer…and the graphics are MINDBOGGLING…but still I felt ripped off after I finished the game up in 20 minutes…but it took me a swell few months to beat it…
and yes, ‘sky land’ is forever fun…but everything being huge *that HAS to be world 4, it just HAS to, because being Mario frog was world 3, or water land or something…and 6 was ice land????*

But what sucks about contra 3 was that the final boss was a boss from a previous game Super C. And idk why they must of ran out of ideas lol.
Buh? I think you missed something in CowboyKilla–you might have failed the levels or something. The first 3 levels use the same tilesets, but each levels adds new enemies and weapons. Level 4 puts you in an entirely new world which is pretty unmistakeably different, it’s a big city with robots and aliens and stuff.
I love the point you make about the compactness of early games. When you think about the voodoo they needed to pull off to get these things on the carts, it’s amazing we had any games to play with as a child, let alone the awesome titles we ended up with. The history of video games is a history of overcoming the limitations of the hardware. Gonna go curmudgeon here for a second, but it’s not like it is now-a-days where artists can create resources without having to think about how it’d fit on the media. Heck, having artists wasn’t even possible. Your artist had to be a programmer. Your programmer was the artist and sound guy and everything all rolled into one. Couldn’t even risk letting your programming team get too big or you’d start getting code problems that you’d have to optimize later. I remember Aladdin for the SNES and Genesis was the first game where they let actual artists make the resources and that was a big deal.

Mario Cart. I have purchased every Nintendo machine all the way back to the Super Nintendo with the sole idea being to play Mario cart. It may not be the most realistic racing game every, but it is by far the most fun.

Uh, uniracers? I totaly thought you were gonna give props to uniracers. I mean, Kirby Super Whatchamacallet was excellent, I played the rom and it was perfect as far as I knew, but … Uniracers?
i never even heard of uniracers. And kirby super star is just awesome. Then they finally release it for the DS but they really really made it harder. They throw in a hard as hell meta knight guy named galactica i think. Then Marx soul which is a more powerful version of Marx himself. Though quite easy if ya know what your doing.

Given that SNES is my favorite system, there are a large number of games that could be the best. Definitely have to go with Link to the Past though. In fact, that’s my favorite Zelda game.
