This week we go to E3 to check out… oh, who are we kidding? We messed up again.
RADAR: Aqua
XBLA
Twin-Stick Shooter
Games Distillery

Sometimes something just doesn’t wind up being equal to the sum of its parts. For instance, when you make a Sci-Fi Western, you could end up with Firefly or you could end up with Wild Wild West. The new XBLA release Aqua attempts to mash up pirates, steampunk, and twin stick shooting. Are we talking Mal Reynolds or Jim West?

Well well well love the new question, though….i can probably ask someone who knows my childhood better than myself. That person is my father.
And if i know my dad right, i know that his answer for me would have to be Super mario.

Feedback answer. With little words. Legend of zelda ocarina of time. I will explain my answer a little better in a new video. I just wanted to post my answer as quickly as possible.

A further detailed explanation of why i picked ocarina of time as the game i was most obsessed with as a kid.
Then some childhood memory that i just thought of until now. Everyone remembers those days when someone accidentally or purposely deleted your save file on your playstation memory card. Yeah here is what happened when that horrible day in my childhood, that haunted me till now.
Here’s my youtube video response http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mzAMNoQPY4

No vote button for transformice? Some people might wanna vote for that.
Fixed! Good catch
So let’s try playing ALL the games this week no matter who made them mmkay?
2 games i played nonstop as a kid: Contra Hardcorps and Gunstar Heroes.
I was OBSESSED with getting all the endings in Conra Hardcorps, and Gunstar Heroes is just awesome, i dont remember in waht dificulty level i beated it though, but i beated it a LOT
YES a feedback I can relate to. xD Meh, I skipped out on last week’s video-commenting because I didn’t feel like I had anything constructive to add (since I wasn’t even able to get one of the games to run).
But I’m going to have to think a while about this feedback. Too many games to consider. It’s probably a mash-up between Ocarina of Time or Metal Slug X.

My favorite 3D platformer? Halflife.
By the way, Noah, I recorded this for you but I’m not sure you saw it since it was on the previous episode only hours before the next one went up: http://www.bytejacker.com/episodes/093/comment-page-1#comment-8916
thanks for all the support your awseome you made my day but i dont think half life is a platformer but portal is and when i say 3d platformer i mean like the sonic adventure deal btw you get a cookie
It was kind of a joke. The last area of the first halflife was very platformy, but in the first person perspective so it kinda sucked and ticked off a lot of people.

In the video above Noah comes out in support of Werewolves and Wanderer, suggesting it be on the FIRF. Now, a bit of insider information, Monday I’ll be posting the color highlighted version of the game which will be found here:
http://cymonsgames.com/werewolvesandwanderercolor
And it’s much much better that way. I’d be tempted for you folks to post a direct link to the executable, but that would mark my comment for moderation which would mean you wouldn’t see it until tomorrow most likely anyways, so I won’t do that.
Second, I don’t think IF is Jon and Anthony’s thing. Correct me if I’m wrong guys, but Interactive Fiction and text games in general don’t get a lot of love on Bytejacker and no wonder when there are so many other wonderful graphical games to enjoy. So if my silly little IF-lite game doesn’t get featured on the show I won’t be upset.
Truth to tell I’m not a big fan of IF myself. I made this game because, well, for one I was challenge to do it and, two, I saw an opportunity to make an IF for those who don’t like IFs. Simple, quick, none of the things that folks don’t like IFs for: command guessing and exit hunting. None of that. Just a simple quick adventure, a little random elements so no two games are exactly the same, a little static elements to control the difficulty level, a reason to replay in this case a high score table and story elements that you have to hunt for to find. In the end it’s a very satisfying game, I think.
I would like people to give it a shot, yes. If it does well I might make more. The book I took this one from had 3 other adventures in it’s pages and it would be nothing at all to make more. But so far it it doesn’t look like that’ll happen and I’ll probably just move on to other things.

Dog gone viddler plugin is giving me a rash.
Anyways, half of the above plugin is for anyone who wants to learn programming and for whom C is too hard, and the other half is for Noah.
http://www.trypython.org/ is the site, you’ll need to install siverlight. My complaint with the site is it’s too tall, but it’s new and maybe they’ll fix that. My other complaint is it’s not organized the way I would do it with compelling examples for you to edit to start with, but it’s not organized bad. Give it a shot. For fiddling around you do learn a lot.
I really enjoyed Transformice. It was a well executed physics platformer with elements of competition and even a little sandbox. I really think it’s better than the rest.
There is an English version of Transformice, which is http://www.transformice.com/en/index.html
I hate Transformice, it screwed up my life for several full days in a row. After that game i see mouses in crowds, i see wrong built bridges and stupid shamans everywhere. At least i’m not fired for skipping workday, because i don’t have a job actually.
But now i’m Pirate Mouse, yarrrr!

I was kinda out last week, but I would have said Brawl Brothers was the best Beat’em up.

I’ll do my comment in a bit…
just after a few more rounds of transformice…
There should be a bytejacker room. Or a room without jerks.

Although I loved pokemon as a kid I was obsessed with ocarina of time, Super Mario 64, and Goldeneye…man I loved those games…
Free indie of the week is Transformice, so much fun, SOOOOO much fun.
Loved was awesome too (sucker for platformers =P) but I wanted to continue to experience it and then it ended.
Toms crown affair was dull in my opinion. I tried to get into it…but I just sat there bored.
Also going to try and find my webcam, it’s around here somewhere, I just don’t know where =P

FIRF feedback.
By the way, I’m still playing Epic Adventure from last week. Beat the boss, unlocked the ability to play as an ogre. This is a really great game and deserves some love. By the way, also deserves a little more love from the developer. Lots of reason to replay, not a lot of motivation to do so.
Wait, Tom Crown is in flash. What was I thinking?
wait what do i do for transformance?
when you get in the game type:
/room russelloni
and you’ll be given your own private practice area.
The flaw to p2p games. There needs to be enough players online to play the game. Tom’s Crown Affair is starting to make me Bruce Banner-angry.

THIS IS MY COMMENTS FOR LAST WEEK
Click to play this video.
I was busy with graduation stuff last week so I couldn’t give my input then, but here it is for all of the none of you that care. Thanks!
Hey, can’t make a video, just way too tired…
Love is alright, but it lacks in terms of overall play time. Still, it’s a nice message.
Tom’s games are always fun despite looking like they have the budget of a box of cheerios. The Crown Affair… In the few moments I played it (I got lucky and found others online) it was fun, but kinda got old after a few minutes.
As for Transformice, I’m gonna punch you guys if I ever see you. It’s too hard to put this damn game down. You’re gonna make me wanna take up online gaming again. i think if there is any complaint to make it’s the fact that most of the unlockables require WAY too much money, er… cheese. Still, those guys are adorable. Best of all, it doesn’t require a powerful computer.
Bugger, almost forgot.
The game I still play today (this makes 13 years) because of so much nostalgia attached to it (probably because I first beat it with my dad) is Full Throttle. That’s right, the Point-&-Click adventure game by LucasArts. No variation each time, no alternate decisions, and I’ve played it literally about 100 times. I love this game to death. Why couldn’t there have been a sequel?
That always seems to happen to my favorite games! Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still spoken of in hushed whispers, Flashback got a terrible sequel and even had a true sequel actually in final production, until the company died. And Full Throttle, each project canceled again and again until Ben’s voice actor died.
WHY!!!!?

Did you make lightbot? My goodness, Danny, you are just behind all my favorite games, aren’t you? Actually, that’s not 100% true. I like lightbot for what it is, but I am just no good at it. Like Robot Odyssey on the Apple ][e, another game where you used programming principals, I liked it for what it was but I was no good at it.
You obviously did not read my comment last week, did you Joe
Oh, I must have missed that little aside at the end of the first bullet point in the middle of the comment. I do sometimes just skim things.

I didn’t have time for it in my video, but also Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight. It had a really poor hack prevention system (aka System Operators who would actually join the game to see you hacking). SO… I would build all sorts of cheating goodies to battle other cheaters. I guess it sucked if you had no idea how to mod or hack, but to those of who did… **twas heaven**
Plus it had some sweet light saber action and booming clan society, and does anyone remember MSN Gaming Zone?

Well now it’s working. Watch this one folks. More of my balloon making prowis(sp?) demonstrated.
Lol Not the quinceneara (sp?) year. Older than that. And also! *Plot twist* I’m Indian! Yeah, people often think that I’m hispanic, so it’s no problem. xD
And thanks both of you! I appreciate the epic balloon tank, too! :D
Like I said, I wasn’t making any assumption, but now that you say Indian it’s like, “Oh, duh yeah.” Do you speak the language? Never mind, doesn’t matter.
And I also figured you older than 14 as well. That I was making an assumption about. I thought it was funny, tho.

And i’m so glad my dad is passed out on the couch.
Thanks so much for the candles, Jon. Haha I actually went through the whole wish making process and all. Love the creativity. Never really had an online birthday candle (that wasn’t sent via email from my grandmother or whoever). xD
And HOLY CRAP flame thrower! When the zombies attack, I am SO using that trick! That was a pretty tight birthday flame, Russelloni.

By the way, I am in love with your new segments and the comedy is freaking on point!! Keep that shat up Carboni!

Good Grief It seems im late again.
But I have a life to attend to :)
I really wish I could have made this a video comment at home so I could have the metal slug there in the background, but viddler does not want to work first thing in the morning. So text comment it is.
Anyways all these well wishings for Heaphonic’s birthday. Bytejacker’s birthday is coming up again. How do I know? Because my birthday is coming sooner. July 6th, 1 week from today. (go back to bytejacker ep 45 to see last year’s birthday “celebration”.) Hard to believe Bytejacker’s turning 2. Any plans for a contest this year? Have you even realized how close this is guys?
My birthday last year was a pretty big one for me. Last year I was finishing up work on ASCIIpOrtal and about to show my work to the world, and the world responded. (Bytejacker episode 44 2:10 in.) The seesmic comments are still there, you just have to find the address and copy/paste the address into the address bar. This year I don’t have anything for you guys, my victories this year are more to do with my family, so sorry about that, but big things are coming, and possibly sooner than I think.
Found my birthday wishes from last year. Gonna put them both here, so prepare for moderation:
