I’m confused, what’s the schedule again? Also, I really love the revision 3 remember me button’s memory.

People better make videos this week, or I’ll make two more of these audio-visual assaults just to make sure we don’t end up with a responseless game three times in a row.
I knew I was picking Diamond Hollow as soon as I saw it on the playlist. It drained three or four wee morning hours the first time I played it. It’s really polished, amazingly so for an LD game. And the taunt lines remind that Mario was lying to us long before Portal. The princess is in the other castle indeed, fuck.

Alright, alright, MisfitBYTE, I’ll leave a comment.
Amusingly enough the fact that I was asking my poor ‘ol laptop’s single processor to do multiple tasks caused my audio to glitch when I was telling you about how asking my poor ‘ol laptop’s single processor to do multiple tasks might cause my audio to glitch. C’est la vie.
My vote goes to Spike, not so much because it was the best, but because the other two were eliminated in my mind when they made me grind for stats. Spike – A Love Story, had it’s good traits. But I kinda wish it won on it’s own merits, not the other contender’s faults.
….Not you. You always make a video, a lot of the times one for them all right? I meant the other slackers. But I like the rhyming with my name, it keeps it all from being the same lame thing when you post about a game.
Kinda liked Spike, the look on his face being orgasmic or teary eyed when I got fired… I always get fired.
But Edmus, fuck that. I may be way behind the times but I’m not signing up on kongregate just to be told I suck at mousr clicking. The load screen is very pretty but there’s no reason for it not to work without an account.
Like I said, I almost didn’t. I’ve been doing videos almost every week for Bytejacker for a looooong time and lately it’s been more out of habit than love. So this week I was thinking of taking a break because, like I said, none of the games presented really inspired me.
Most of the conversation on these videos seem to happen on YouTube now and I’ve been thinking of moving my comments there. (I kinda want to know if it’s easier for Anthony to take videos off here or YouTube before I make that move). At least there all my responses would be in one place and it would almost become a second rant channel for me, since my responses generally take that slant, but I’m kind of afraid that would change things.
I’m thinking I’m just having an off weekend. Look at me, all pontificaty.
I loved this batch. It is nice to actually have to play the games for a while before making a decision rather than recoiling in horror at the available options. Now am I being positive or negative with that statement?
Spike — To gimmicky. Yet another entry in the “wouldn’t it be cute if this there was a game that did this outrageous thing” and offers nothing else.
I have to side with Joe on the point: “games that require leveling up” to play are bad; but in this case not to the point of disqualification.
Diamond Hollow – Started out hard, and never got easier. Shame, because the basic game play was there. Even after I completely leveled up in all categories, I was still shredded early in each game by the shooters, and killed by forced scrolling that scrolled too fast. If the game were slowed down, and the number of shooters halved at the start of the game, DH would be much more playable.
That leaves Edmus. At first glance this was yet another one button, run and jump game that just drives me nuts. I know everyone loves Cannabalt, but I just can’t get into it; too much too fast. Edmus solved this with three brilliant additions. The first was the “Play against everyone else” feature. this gives you something to gauge your progress against. The second was the “new game every day feature”. This kept me coming back, even after I had plateaued the previous day. The real brilliance of the game was the leveling mechanism. The fact that I could rebalanced my purchases was the key. I could spend a few rounds with the speed cranked up earning flower peddles, and then crank the speed down to zero and the jumping way up for a “going for the gold” round. Very very entertaining.
And one general suggestion to you Anthony: You may want to adopt the “reading the news” style of commentary until video posts pick up again. The show is a little flat during Free Indie Count Down during those segments without the video. It might give it more depth if you read the top text comment.
Just say’in… ;-)
Oh yea, leveling up is bad. RPG’s have been forcing that down our throats for far too long and they must be stopped before its too late.
